House Rules 2016 Queensland garden reveal

Claire and Hagan completely transformed the front yard of Luke and Cody’s home with crazy paving, generous hand-built front steps and a simple colour scheme.

Responding to the House Rule ‘Bung in a Beer Garden’, Claire and Hagan delivered a bar complete with stools and party lights.

Judge Wendy Moore felt the furniture layout in this zone was anti-social, and the lack of shade was a massive oversight.

Fil and Joe delivered the comfy seating area seen here on the deck, which the judges loved – even if the styling was a little lacking. Wendy also highlighted the lack of shading in the entire yard – a real drawback in this part of Australia.

Designed by Claire and Hagan, the fire pit wasn’t in a great spot and felt like an after-thought. Elsewhere, the gardens beds, chosen by Fil and Joe, could have done with softening, with some rounded edges and denser, spilling plants.

While Fil and Joe’s ‘lawn pool’ game didn’t answer the ‘no fuss’ House Rule, it was a fun and innovative addition to the boys’ backyard.
