Layout
The kitchen, open to the adjacent living room, has a simply galley-plus-island footprint. The hidden winner is a sizeable butler’s pantry tucked away behind the rear wall. A bonus in open-plan kitchens, they can pack in lots more storage and depending on size, can include more prep space so your on-show benchtops can remain pristine and clutter free.
Cabinetry
The kitchen is furnished in panelled 2-pac cabinetry by Continental Cabinets, painted in Taubmans Snowy White. The wall units include glazed storage for display options, with the central cupboard concealing a Qasair Universal rangehood. The Falcon Professional Plus oven also has traditional good looks that complement the room’s classic appeal.
Splashback
‘Batik’ grey ceramic tiles from Stone3 add a subtle play of pattern and colour, creating a pretty, unexpected note in the otherwise classic design. The ‘1901 Provincial’ kitchen tap with English spout in Chrome and an undermount ‘Fireclay Farmhouse’ sink, both from Restoration Online, ramp up the traditional vibe.
Island
This is a busy family kitchen, and the island bench, topped in granite and with a handsome ‘Southampton’ pendant from Beacon Lighting shining a light on the zone, makes a great gathering spot.
If the traditional style of this kitchen appeals, you might like this brilliantly transformed room, and this pretty, classic space.
