This picture-pretty Brisbane home celebrates all things salvaged and crafty.
Kitchen
A flat-packed kitchen from Ikea, the budget-saving space includes a butler’s pantry and study nook. A deep chocolate stain was chosen for the timber veneer floors, with open shelving, stacked with bright mugs and bowls from Target and Kmart, adding interest and colour. Get the look of the flooring with Quick-Step ‘Elinga’ laminate flooring in Wenge, Carpet Court.
Sweet shelves
Ikea bookshelves were flush-mounted directly into the wall to create a neat, budget-friendly display space for books and collectables.
Living room
In the cosy living room, Ikea bookshelves were flush-mounted directly into the wall to create a neat, budget-friendly display space for books and collectables. Cushions in Florence Broadhurst ‘The Cranes Coral’ and Schumacher ‘Chiang Mai Dragon’ fabrics add a welcome colour splash to the Freedom sofa. The custom floor-to-ceiling sheer linen curtains work beautifully in the room, diffusing strong sunlight while still allowing for airflow.
Bathroom
The guest bathroom is a picture of classic style thanks to a traditional pedestal basin from Recollections, a freestanding tub sourced from a local supplier and a vintage-look showerhead. Textured travertine tiles bring a note of earthiness to the all-white space – try Tile Factory Outlet for similar. The steep pitched ceilings add charm.
Laundry
The chic and compact laundry was made from the same Ikea flat-packed cabinetry as the kitchen. Pretty containers and fresh white towels are on show, with cleaning
products stowed away. The sweet collection of artworks is from French Knot Designs. Get the look with Wash & Wear 101 Barrier Technology in Bleaches, Dulux.
Stairs
Keen to make the most of every spare centimetre in their home, the homeowners came up with a creative solution for an empty space under the stairs – a tropical fish tank. The staircase wall is decorated with a collection of pictures, including drawings and old newspaper cuttings found under the carpet during a renovation.
Master bedroom
The bedhead was picked up on Ebay, then reupholstered.
Guest bedroom
Friends and family are greeted by a mix of antique charm and handmade style in the second guest room. The vintage cane side tables were found at an op-shop and painted a bright coral shade – try Dulux Slippery Salmon for a similar hue. The trio of prints above the bed is from Ikea.
Home office
A corner of the music room room was converted into a study nook with a timber desk and industrial-style shelving, both made almost entirely from upcycled materials. The filing cabinet was found at a Lifeline charity store and repainted.
