Exterior
Fairytale-like stepping stones lead to this beautiful Sydney home, the work of interior decorator Melinda Hartwright. It is clad in James Hardie weatherboard in Dulux Milton Moon.
Entryway
The stunning entryway features paisley Schumacher wallpaper, table lamps sourced by Melinda and a console from Ikea, updated with navy paint and new knobs.
Living room
A beautifully textured sisal rug grounds the many different elements in the living room. “The rug really helped pull the whole space together,” explains Melinda. Curtains made of fabric found at Bargain Upholstery Fabrics in Seaforth add a decorative finishing touch. A bold artwork by Vanessa Brown pays tribute to the home’s coastal location.
Kitchen
An all-white kitchen, designed by Melinda and built by Homestyle Kitchens, takes its style cues from North America. Glazed cabinets are lined in Schumacher’s ‘Summer Palace Fret’ wallpaper, while plain blinds have been by-passed for a very pretty floral fabric. Drawers and 2-pac cabinetry in Dulux Vivid White provide ample storage, while classic marble benchtops and glass pendants from American store Shades of Light make a subtle statement.
Main bedroom
Walls painted in Dulux Roland are a calming backdrop in the beautiful main bedroom, where the headboard fabric – Martyn Lawrence Bullard ‘Sinhala’ in Sky, available through Melinda Hartwright Interiors – was the starting point for the scheme. A graceful ‘French’ bedside table from La Maison is a pretty counterpoint.
Main bedroom
The room has a number of mini zones, including a reading nook, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, giving the space added luxury and functionality. A gingham-covered pouffe connects the different areas and provides another sitting spot at a dresser that is a platform for more coastal-inspired accessories.
Powder room
In the powder room, Thibaut ‘Meridian’ wallpaper, available through Melinda Hartwright Interiors, takes centre stage above an antique-style vanity.
