Investing in these simple details make every day more special and add a touch of class to your interiors.
Lighting – the finishing touch
The lights in Josh and Brandon’s kitchen made all the difference to the design, says Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. “The lighting was very clever, and adding a bringing flash of copper warmed it up enormously,” he says. He admired the restraint of contestants Leigh and Kristie, who did the kitchen in the boys’ house. “You know, I think, actually, a lot of people would have been tempted to really turn the volume up on the dressing in a space like this. A lot more colour and a lot more pizazz.” Instead, he says, the pantry area was full of colour, allowing the main kitchen to reflect a more refined palette.
Tableware
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen was a big fan of the styling in the dining room in the boys’ home. “We liked the dining room enormously,” he says. “There was a wonderful sort of simplicity to it and it was quite blokey, but the styling of the china was actually very directional in having these sort of, Moroccan, almost Ikat-inspired tableware.”
Tapware
An understated base element in the bathroom off Brandon’s bedroom was the choice of black tapware throughout the room. The muted matte finishes of all the mixers and shower, from Highgrove Bathrooms, allowed the hero items – such as the dark blue tiles and glass sink – to shine (literally).
