In the ultimate limited edition, the original designer’s silk screens have been released for sale.
A design icon and famous for her silk-screened wallpapers, printed by hand, Florence Broadhurst was an extraordinary woman who created magic in her Sydney studio during the 1960s and 70s. Her iconic designs have thrived over time to form an incredible, timeless collection that will never go out of style.
Australian design house, Signature Prints has launched a never-to-be-repeated historic event with the sale of the original silkscreens Florence created to print her legendary designs.
The collection has now been archived and digitised so this is a unique opportunity to own the actual silkscreens Florence used.
“There is nothing like having such a great design Australian story in your home.”
Wendy Moore, HB editor in chief
Each frame is more than 50 years old and as one of Florence’s ‘working tools’, has its own story to tell – colour splashes, taped areas, print marks on both the mesh and frame.
Rare, unique and totally collectable, each artwork is mounted in its original cedar wooden frame and carries a plaque stating its heritage, comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Already an heirloom of Australian design, these artworks have the potential to become part of your own family story. Sold as artworks, part of the purchase agreement is that the screens cannot be used to reproduce the designs.
The designs are divided into four categories, with Platinum housing the most iconic designs, Gold, Silver and Bronze holding the more stylized, lesser-known designs.
“All of Florence’s production processes were done by hand – hand-drawn design; hand-drawn detailed hatchwork; hand-worked layering and colouration – which piece together perfectly.”
