If you’re stumped for a Mother’s Day gift, these sweet herb tins will hit the right notes of craft project, decorative accent and DIY affordable gift for your kids to roll up their sleeves and get creative with. Here’s how to do it:
You will need:
Scissors
Ruler
Spray Adhesive, double-sided tape or decoupage glue
Fabric offcuts
Clean, empty tins
Potted herb plants
How to:
1. Wash used tin cans thoroughly in warm water to remove the labels.
2. File down any sharp edges with a metal file and drill or punch three drainage holes in the base of each tin.
3. Raid your stash of fabric or wallpaper scraps and cut to fit around each tin. Use decoupage glue, double-sided tape or spray adhesive to cover each tin with material.
4. Pot whatever herbs take your fancy (we used lemon thyme, oregano, rosemary, mint and basil) into each tin and display in a spot that receives plenty of direct sunlight.
