Just when you thought you’d seen every Kmart hack imaginable, along comes a creative individual who shows you an exciting new way to use a product. And in this case, it’s as stylish as it is innovative.
DIY-fan Ashlee White used a $12 linen-look tablecloth from Kmart to create stunning pot covers with a designer-style look.
Introducing a personalised touch to her home, the design-led hack looks expensive and transforms ordinary pot plants.
“Linen is very on-trend at the moment so when I saw that Kmart was selling a linen tablecloth for $12, I knew I wanted to create something with it,” the Sydney-sider says.
“I love being creative. My background is in fashion design so I can very easily whip up patterns.”
Ashlee created a step-by-step video tutorial for the DIY project, demonstrating how to create a pot cover for any sized pot.
“I started by measuring my plant pot and drafted a pattern,” she explained.
“I then chalked the pattern onto the fabric, cut the fabric out and sewed it all together.”
The simple project is perfect for those who don’t have a lot of time.
“They are super quick to whip up. I made all three in under an hour,” Ashlee said.
The clever hack made waves on social media, attracting glowing appraisals and enthusiastic comments.
“Ooohhh, these are gorgeous,” said one Kmart fan.
“We definitely need to try this hack!” exclaimed another. “This looks incredible lovely.”
