Custom-designed mural
Rather than choosing framed artwork, a custom illustration by Lauren Merrick (titled ‘Mountain Bear’) was taken to specialists Scandinavian Wallpaper & Decor, who turned it into a mural for this gorgeous room. The rug is a ‘Bazaar’ wool dhurrie from West Elm, and a porcelain bird from Have You Met Miss Jones sits on the Normann Copenhagen ‘Tablo’ table.
Ply bunk beds
Stretching the width of one wall, the custom-built bunk beds are made from ply, finished with a natural wax. For a gentle contrast, the inside surfaces were painted in Porter’s Paints Ultra Flat Acrylic in Ice (with 15 per cent more blue) and Taubmans Endure Low Sheen in Veridian Green, then dressed the beds in bold, chevron-print bedlinen and yellow cushions from Aura By Tracie Ellis.
Ladder
The ladder didn’t start at the floor to allow free movement of a trundle bed beneath, which currently acts as storage for winter blankets.
Clever shelving
The clever cube bookshelves and hanging rack were created using ply. Alongside books and toys, the cubes hold precious keepsakes. The colourful storage boxes that fit snugly into the shelves were sourced from Ikea.
Chair
Cute pom-poms pop against a kid sized Eames replica chair.
