A touch of whimsy
Throw a tea party with a side of theatre. Here, a whimsical storybook theme is created – with a nod to Alice in Wonderland – via a lush moss table runner, scattered flowers, small animal statues and piles of figs and grapes. Hang a chandelier from an overhead tree branch for the final flourish.
Moody hues
Create a dramatic table with dark tableware. Layer rattan placemats with charcoal plates and bowls. Add textural interest with small horn bowls, ornate bronze candlesticks and grey linen napkins. Pile a plate with grapes, mulberries and passionfruit for a fresh centrepiece.
Time for tea
Bring the indoors out with afternoon tea and games alfresco. A hammered copper tray makes a beautiful – and practical – addition to the coffee table.
Woodland wonder
Add a rustic element to your table with lots of textural layers. Start with a crochet table runner on top of a linen table runner, and add vintage glass bottles and metal jugs for water and flowers. Use log cut-offs as coasters, and sling a faux fur throw over the back of chairs for extra comfort and warmth.
Potted beauty
Add a pot plant to your tray or table for a touch of portable greenery. A small pot of rosemary not only looks good, but it’s a hardy plant that will thrive outdoors.
Pared-back palette
Flowers and plants always make gorgeous centrepieces, but keep things simple with a refined colour palette. Here, succulents combine beautifully with flannel flowers and white anemones.
